Duct Tape Marketing today featured Hillary Brown from Lawrence, KS. What Hillary Brown does is remarkable. Instead of launching another “Me too” fast food restaurant in an already competitive college town of Lawrence, Hillary opened a burger joint with a little twist. Her burgers are made only from locally grown, raised and produced products.
Brown tells that to her doubters she enthusiastically replied, “what I’m creating is the next generation of burger joints.” Local Burger” as her restaurant is called, takes into consideration where food comes from as well as the environment, unnatural additives, and sustainable agriculture. All of the creative dishes served at Local Burger are prepared from foods grown or raised no more than 200 miles away (some less than 5). In addition, most products are organic and gluten free, including local wine and beer.
How awesome is this concept? If someone built a restaurant like this in Mesa, I am there every week, and so will be many others. What we don’t need is another fast food in Mesa. Mesa doesn’t need it and it’s unhealthy anyway.
Local Burger is daring to be different, unconventional, and destroying the norm, which takes courage to do. And, of course, they’re deeply connected locally with Twitter. Hillary Brown of Lawrence, KS and her Local Burger’s business ideas are innovative, courageous and remarkable. And, quite honestly, anyone in Mesa can duplicate the idea and make it a local success.
